SKIN CONDITIONS

The skin is often considered a window into your overall health.   Some consider the “Gut-Skin” connection to be an indication of overall health and employing a holistic, whole-person perspective means that the entire individual will be addressed, not just the symptomatic area of concern. Some approaches that Dr Joe uses in his approach to treating skin conditions include:

  • Digestion and gut health
  • Food sensitivities
  • Manage inflammation
  • Support detoxification
  • Assess nutrition status

Skin issues are often challenging to find long-term improvement.  Using medication may provide a temporary benefit, but the symptoms reappear as soon as medication is stopped. There is no cure from the medication, only suppression.  So the underlying cause remains unaddressed and the condition still manifests as a chronic problem.

Eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea are examples of skin conditions that may respond well to a holistic naturopathic approach.

Dr Joe is dedicated to helping you find the root cause of your problems. He takes the time to genuinely listen to his patients’ stories and understand how their health is affected. He believes that understanding the function of the gut, and the importance of a healthy gut flora (microbiome) are key to helping you have healthy digestion.

Some assessments that help to understand what may be happening inside the body that drive skin conditions include the GI Effects Comprehensive Stool Analysis, Food Sensitivity Testing, and Fatty Acid profile.

GI Effects Digestive Stool Analysis offers insight into digestive function, parasites, pathogens and the microbiome. Food Sensitivity testing measures IgG antibodies in the blood which show inappropriate delayed-reaction immune response to the foods you eat. Dr Joe understands your discomfort and in addition to these tests, Grassroots Naturopathic offers colon hydrotherapy to help stimulate a sluggish bowel, to increase the elimination of accumulated fecal matter and to help to restore a diverse microbiome.
